Alex "Daddy" Wonk laid the foundation for what is now the Wonk Unit in London in 1992 with his Band "The Flying Medallions". A band that is unique in Europe with its own sound, its own humor, its own festival and a deeply rooted DIY Background. Alex Brindle Johnson as the lead singer but also poet, skater, stage performer and creative motor is the heart of the band. Kennzeichnend für das Album ist Alex Wonks gewohnt geradliniges Storytelling basierend auf seinem ganz eigenen Humor und jeder Menge Ironie. Wie schon die Vorgängeralben bewegt sich das Songwrting auf UNCLE DADDY erneut jenseits typischer Genre-Schubladen. So wird auch dieses mal nicht auf Synthesizer-Hooks und Gitarrenexperimente verzichtet.
Ergänzt wird das Ganze durch Songs wie RAISE MY GLASS oder BLOODSTAINS, bei denen Keyboarderin Vez die Lyrics geschrieben hat und den Hauptgesang übernimmt. Frischer Wind im Hause WONK und ein würdiger Nachfolger des TERROR-Albums.
